Colortherapy

Colortherapy

Color is light, an electromagnetic energy that comes in different wavelengths. When these wavelengths bounce off objects, they create light. Different speeds, intensities, absorbent and reflective qualities determine the colors you see. Your body is made up of this same energy. Within your body you have different energy centers that vibrate at different frequencies. Using colortherapy is as easy as wearing colors you are drawn to or as deep as using them to balance the seven main energy centers in your body called Chakras.

It is now our time to reclaim color as a tool to shape and direct the energy that is our life force. Sickness, anxiety and depression are not things that happen to us, they are of us. A misdirected or blocked energy is the catalyst to all these life-hampering conditions and the power of color can transform us into the joyful beings we deserve to be. Its power is prehistoric. On subconscious cellular levels we have been under colors influence since the dawn of time. Color has been used by early man to symbolize everything from seasons, to social position and to our sexuality.

Earth’s natural elements of color produced profound effects on our ancestors and today, thanks to the advent of E E G’s and the like, it is an even more intricate part of our everyday life and health. Due to some of these man made inventions we have the scientific tools to define exactly what color is and why it so strongly effects our entire energy system and its well being.

Colors most important value is to heal. In the last century color has unfortunately lost most of its deeper meaning to the mainstream fashion trends but healers and scientist have continued to practice alternatives to traditional medicine with stunning results. Our awareness has begun.

How To Use Color As Therapy

Wear it.

The clothes we pull out of our closets on any given day and the accessories we choose to wear with them have a huge impact on how we feel and how others perceive us. The color choices we make influence our mood and our ability to get through the day with confidence and a feeling of being with the flow. And whether you’re getting dressed to go to work, to meet your friends or to go out on a date, color will play a part in how people respond to you.

The color choices we make usually are instinctive. Have you ever wondered why, on some days when you reach into your closet, you are excited about wearing that blue shirt, while on other days, that same blue shirt repels you? That’s our spleen (orange) chakra at work connecting us to our emotions and intuition. Each of us has an innate knowledge of what color frequency we need on any given day. Just as we may crave orange juice when our body needs vitamin C, we are drawn to certain colors when our body needs a boost. We get that boost from color.

A brief history of color in fashion.
The ancient Egyptian priests wore blue to signify their good judgements, the English royals prefer red and purple and some modern day civilizations attribute power with black. This is probably because we perceive it as being mysterious and most of us attribute qualities that surpass our own to the mysterious because it is unknown or supposedly out of our comprehension of knowing. We need to address the importance color has on our energy system and how brown being the new black may not be the key to pulling you out of a lull. What impression are you trying to make? – colors tell the tale.

The key to fashion in the new millennium is healing and self-expression. Some helpful suggestions:

  • Red is a power color and should be worn when you want to feel charismatic and powerful. It also helps when you need courage and inner strength.
  • Wear black when you are trying to mask yourself. The city uniform is often black because it helps personal privacy but also black promotes change and in a fast paced city adaptability to change is crucial; black helps gives us push out of the preverbal nest.
  • Wear brown when we have to come down to earth and play in the preverbal sandbox. It helps our logic.
  • Where yellow socks if you have a big meeting or presentation. It will stimulate your intellect. Remember that story I told you about my big interview.. It works!
  •  For extra charisma and inner strength where red undergarments or red on the exterior will symbolize your courage and power.
  •  Blue has gotten a reputation as the ‘power suit’ the reason behind this is because blue promotes better communication and good communicators are seen as powerful and able to get what they what. If you don’t ask you’ll never get.

Breathe it.

This technique is especially useful for healing physical conditions. Refer to the information in finding out what you need to identify which color can help your condition, but always remember to consult your doctor if any condition persists. For example, pink and light blue breath is beneficial for skin. Red breath helps with colds and sinus conditions. Blue breath eases respiratory problems and is generally good for helping children.

  1. If possible, and assuming you don’t live in a highly polluted area, do this exercise outdoors or sit by an open window.
  2. Prepare yourself with deep breathing.
  3. Imagine the color you want to take in. Breathe it in as colored light. We can do this because our thoughts change the frequency of the air into the frequency or color energy we need.

Examples:

  • Pink breath – beneficial to skin conditions, puffiness and eases loneliness.
  • Blue breath – calming, awakens artistic talent, eases respiratory problems and is generally good for healing children
  • Red breathe – energizing and warming. Helps with colds and sinus; drying to mucus membranes.

Solarize it.

Solarizing Water
The benefits of drinking water can be maximized by creating solarized water with one of the seven color frequencies.

  1. Decide which chakra you want to balance and choose your color accordingly.
  2. Get a transparent glass container in the color you require.
    3. Fill the glass with water and place it in the sun for several hours, longer if the day is cloudy. Sometimes I leave it overnight to get some lunar energy as well.
  3. After several hours in the sun, the sun’s rays will have infused the water with the vibrations of colored container. Sip it slowly, (about ½ – 1 cup should do).

After, keep the water in the refrigerator. Do not keep the water from the warm end of thespectrum, (that is red, orange, yellow) more than a few days. Cool colored water (that is green, blue, violet) can be kept a few days longer.

You can test this exercise by pouring seven different glasses of solarized water and sip them. The water from each glass has a distinctly different taste.
If you don’t have colored bottles you can also wrap a clear glass or jar with transparent fabric the color of the chakra you wish to work on. Silk is ideal. The sun will penetrate the fabric and solarize the water. Colored gels, like the kind from a lighting store, will also do the trick.

Solarizing Rooms
Solarize any room with transparent silk curtains. I’ve tried the curtains and found them a beautiful colortherapy treatment. Decide on the color you need and buy silk fabric making sure it’s opaque enough to block the view from outside and transparent enough to allow sunlight to penetrate. You want to create a glow. Let’s say you’ve decided on green fabric. During the day the sunlight will light the room with a green luminescence at the same time giving it green color energy of the heart chakra. At night the color will be opaque but you’ll still have the green vibrations stored from the frequency of green light filling the room all day long. See finding out what you need for a detailed color guide but green and/or pink is great for the bedroom, it promotes love energy and calm; blue for the living room or office area as it encourages communication/inspiration; and maybe yellow for a window in the bathroom and kitchen because it makes you feel good about yourself and encourages joy.

Paint It

Art : Colors necessity to painting as a pigment reaches far beyond the structural detail that creates an image. It expresses emotion and this draws us into another world that in turn provokes us to contemplate our own. Art is therapy!

Projecting colors
Energy can be transmitted through our hands by breathing and concentrating on our thoughts. Everywhere in our body that we have a joint we have secondary chakras and since we have so many joints in our hands this is why our hand are so therapeutic. Visualizing that the colors are being sent from your hands outward to a given point. This is what healers do. It can also be done by imagining the color energy showering through the top of your head, down through your body and then out through your feet. That one is my personal favorite.

 You can also use colored lights and sit under them.

 You can project colored slides onto the wall and breath deeply while focusing on the therapeutic values running through your body.

Visualize It.

The Color shower
The Color Shower is extremely effective in bringing balance and healing to your energies. For instance, if you’re feeling anxious, a blue color shower will help you calm down.

  1. Decide which color you need. See finding out what you need or better yet tune into yourself and let your intuition guide you.
  2. Prepare yourself with a few minutes of deep breathing – in your nose and out your mouth. Eyes closed and empty your mind as best you can and set the intention that the color you need will come easily to you.
  3. Once you decide on a color or colors, it can be more than one – picture the most perfect version of that color. See it in your mind’s eye showering from the heavens down into the your head, down through your body and out through your feet. It feels refreshing.
  4. The color energy is smart energy and will go where it is needed encouraging any blocks or negativity to drain away. Using your intuition you can ask yourself if there is an area in or around your body that needs attention and then let the color(s) swirl in beautiful cross over and figure-8 patterns in this area.

Finding the color you need.

First off let us say that using your intuition is the easiest way and just as effective as the Colorcard readings. If you are uncertain of your intuitive abilities we encourage you to begin developing them – or tuning into it, because it already exists inside you. But the following is extremely effective and time tested.

You’ll need seven cards corresponding to the seven colors of the spectrum and the seven charkas; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and white. I, Tony, use small cards, about the size of business cards; I, Cristina, like big ones the size of index cards, but any size will do. We made our cards by painting them with acrylic paints and then taking them to Kinko’s to be laminated. We used acrylics because we had them around and they dry quickly, but if you don’t have paints in the house or don’t want to make your own, you can use the color cards printed in the back of our book, Tony&Tina Color Energy. And we have a limited number of Colorcard sets in our shop. Colors stationary paper works too. Each color card has its chakra meaning on the back.

  1. Shuffle the cards and, with your eyes closed, spread them out in front of you. The cards may be either slightly overlapping in one long row (which I like best) or in two rows. Make a mental note as to how you are arranging the cards, but be sure not to look at them. If you do peek, try to forget the placement of the colors or you will defeat the purpose of the reading.
  2. Keeping your eyes closed, rub your hands together to create a warm energy between your palms.
  3. Breathe deeply. Suspend either your right or left hand approximately two inches above the cards and move your palm across them. You may touch each card if it’s easier. Take your time.
  4. Concentrate as you move your hand over the cards. You will soon feel a buzz-like sensation in your palm from one or two of the cards. It’s subtle. Or you may sense a pull or a slightly heavy or hot feeling. People describe the sensation differently, so just listen to that gut feeling and trust your instincts. You might even feel as though you’re guessing. This is fine. Your unconscious is doing the work.
  5. Once you sense a hot spot, pull the card forward. If you are drawn to two cards, pull both forward. See if you can determine which one has the stronger pull.
  6. Open your eyes to see the card or cards you’ve chosen. Note which chakra the color card is related to. If you were drawn to two cards, the one from which you felt the strongest pull is your main life process right now; the other is secondary.
  7. Refer to the color meanings link below and reflect upon what contemplation or action is needed.

Healing Bath

I take bathing very seriously; it’s seriously deep Self-Care and a Self-Soothing activity that will activate your pathways of joy…your Radiant Circuits. It’s an important part of a Positive Energy Home Lifestyle.

Fill the tub to the top; you want to be submerged up to your neck area, even if you have to have your feet popping out the other side. We have an amazing formulation but have hit some hiccups that we are working out but until then it’s easy to do it yourself! My bathing formulation is stress relieving, toxin-extracting blend of Epson Salt, Himalayan salt crystals, and Baking Soda. Epsom Salt to release energy blockages, extract toxins and ease sore tired muscles. It’s also great to use after a plane ride because helps rid your body of radiation. Himalayan Rock Salt to energetically ground you and to soften the skin. Finally baking soda to extract toxins and cleanse and strengthen and heal your auric field. This is a very healing combination – A Energy Healing Trifecta.

Add Aromatherapy
Any essential oil you like / have is perfect but try and make it as pure as possible; because I tend to need the support that lavender and bergamot offer I pour in some of my Healthy Aura Spray. You can also try my single note oils and / or chakra oils. Smell is the most powerful sense we have and therefore it truly shifts our mood and energy.

Add Colortherapy
Bed, Bath and Beyond sell these amazing inexpensive under water lights, AquaLuxe, that change through the spectrum of the rainbow gently feeding your body some color energy and also creates a soothing ethereal atmosphere if you turn all other lights out. I also have one in my bedroom too and it’s very relaxing to lie in bed watching the colors transform, a nice way to gently fall into a happy dreamland.

Add Soundtherapy To Create A Calm Mood
Have music on as the backdrop to your beautiful dreams and harmonious environment. I have some nice CD’s and this article on soundtherapy is very interesting.

Have A Great Daydream
See yourself happy, beautiful and loved. Imagine your in your ideal situation…really get into it, to the point where you know what you are wearing. What we think we create, Law Of Attraction, so be in vibration with positively wonderful fantastic beautiful things.

Om Ah Hum Breathing

I have had the great pleasure of speaking with the owner of Do Kham, Phelgye Kelden, for over 15 years. I would stop in to shop, or just stop in and he and I would begin speaking about energy, meditation and perceiving reality and it was always so interesting and his energy is transcendent.

The days before my trip to Guatemala in January Bowie had just passed and Phyelgyes shop is around the corner from the memorial so I stopped in. He looked at me and said what’s happening. Clearly I was not looking my best but he was seeing my energy that was stressed, sad, and fearful and so the conversation began…

He spoke of this reincarnate Buddhist named Migyur Rinpoche who spoke of being plagued by stress, at 12 – his story is worth reading! This boy said once realized he could not stop it he decided to embrace it, to take it in and when he did this it disappeared and he was no longer stressed out. I paraphrase obviously but the idea is clear – we usually need to embrace what is making us uncomfortable in order to let it go – to walk through it to get through it.

He knows I am a healer and asked if that was draining me? Nope I said that’s when I’m feeling my best, during and after – it’s when I’m doing nothing I feel unhappy and drained so he spoke of creating a bridge from the everyday me to the healer me. Interesting way to look at it and it resonated with me. Still working on that.

He gave me a basic meditation technique – that was actually taught to me differently in Costa Rica – and said it would help both stress (or anything negative) and me feeling happy. It’s called:

Om Ah Hum Breathing

1. You inhale purity by breathing in the color white as you say the word OM in your head.
2. Holding your breath you see the color red over your navel as you say the word AH in your head and this clears all negativity from your body.
3. You then see the color blue over your heart and say the word HUM in your head as you connect with compassion for yourself and the world and you deeply exhale with the intention of spreading that compassion around the world.

He actually demonstrated this and it seemed like he was holding his breathe forever, my breaths are shorter and that’s ok. He said he does it all the time, even when he’s working, “Nobody knows what’s going on in my head” and he said smiling.

I have been doing this since he showed me and I find it very comforting. Soothing and strengthening too but mostly comforting because I believe it is empowering my energy and that feels great! I also find it unbelievably interesting that I received a tutorial from him, in part about happiness, which was the thread for me during my Guatemala trip. There are no coincidences and I see it as a sign from the universe that I was ready to shift my heart into happiness and I am happy.

Hope this is helpful!

Balancing Male / Female Energy

Having a balanced Yin/Female and Yang/Male enables us to stay happy and healthy and gives us a sense of empowerment. This Chinese symbol is called Tai Chi, which means ultimate potentiality – or in T&T speak the balance of it allows us to see and achieve the limitless possibilities we have in our lives.

Yin Yang symbol
Yin Yang symbol

Really look at the Yin/Yang symbol – a bit of the white curves into the black and black into white, plus the dot of the other color within. This perfetly shows that although they are different energies they complemtent each other and are actually interdependant on each other so it’s balance is very important. It’s like a full circle of who we are so an imbalance between the two can be the source of many unneeded woes. Believe me I know!

When imbalanced our male and female selves aren’t talking – and they need to be in harmonious communication. They support each other – we need both. Speaking of energies communicating – making sure all our energies systems are communicating is essential to our health and happiness and we can ensure this with a great self-care technique called Crossing Over, which is a great Eden Energy Medicine technique.

The following is a powerful visualization using the 8th and 9th chakras. We learnt this technique from a few different teachers and in different modalities all in slightly different ways, which is a signal to me that it’s highly effective. Some of the best self-care techniques have been taught through the ages with slight variations – it’s time tested, we love that!

This is our version to Balance Your Male/Female Energy:

Always begin any visualization with a few slow deep breathes in your nose and out your mouth. Tune inward and……

  1. Picture a silver ray, flowing up through your feet, into your body and filling your heart. It begins to move clockwise. Your 8th chakra is silver / female energy and sits below your feet.
  2. Picture a gold ray showering down through your head and down to your heart turning clockwise. Your 9th chakra is gold / male energy sits above your head.
  3. Visualize these two color energies swirling around each other harmoniously and as they swirl they begin to merge, still keeping their predominent male/female energies but now they are balanced and empowered within you. There is a give and take that is perfectly balanced.

Note: All our posts are always evolving as we add more information so if this post resonates with you check back once in a while to see if there’s anything new. Enjoy!

Night of Beauty & Relaxation

It’s important to set aside a night of beauty each week. Let this be your time to nourish and pamper yourself, you absolutely deserve that. Take at least one or two hours to cleanse, steam, deep clean, replenish and moisturize yourself from head to toe. Set the intention this will be a relaxing night of releasing all negativity and blocks that get in the way of your most radiant self. Dream about the ideal you. Create a new reality, Law of Attraction. It’s good for your body, soul and mind.

One basic: Please, please everyone wash your face morning and night no matter how tired you are. It really makes a significant difference in how you look and age; and in how you feel. You can affirm you are washing away your worries, or hurt, or angry, or whatever you want to wash out of your energy field. It’s a great opportunity you get twice a day to make a positive affirmation!

Environment is everything!
Set the stage for your night! Make sure you have some great lighting, meaning dim lights and candles. Relaxation CDs, and of course some healthy snacks and lemon water…

Steam
This is pure luxury, seriously! Our Facial Steam is pretty heavenly if I do say so myself. If you don’t have the right herbs or oils it’s fine; you can buy herbs that are specifically meant for steaming at your local health food store. Just boil some water and pour it into a large bowl and let it simmer down. (Please use common sense, don’t scald your face.) With a large towel, cover your head as you hold your head over the bowl, about 6 to 8 inches above the steaming water. Steam your face for about 10 minutes. It will really open the pores and brighten your complexion. Breath deeply if you can. I like to intend I am breathing in earth’s purity and breathing out toxins, physical and emotional.

Cleanse
Immediately after steaming, while your pores are still open, apply a mud or clay mask (a mixture of both is best) to your entire face and neck. Make sure the mask is as pure as possible, meaning you don’t need fancy fragrances in it. I’m playing with a new T&T formulation now and will keep you updated on that. Until then, Ahave Dead Sea Mask is a good one and you can probably find an all-natural mud mask at your local health food store. Follow the instructions. But in case they don’t mention it – don’t let it completely dry, meaning look crackly on your face, that can really dry you out. One more insiders tip: Using a wet washcloth scrub the mud off in circular motions to exfoliate and wash away the toxins that the mask brought to the surface. Scrub with gentle to medium pressure – never hard! And, of course be mindful of your eyes, you don’t want to get any in there so I always wash the area off first.

Moisturize
Apply a moisturizing mask (again, your local health food store should have one) and I’m playing with a few formulations but they will be bespoke only probably. You can make your own! Readers Digest has some easy suggestions as does Livestrong.

Bath time!
I take bathing very seriously so this will be the longest section, ha ☺ First of all fill the tub to the top, you want to be submerged up to your shoulders. We have an amazing formulation but have hit some hiccups that we are working out but until then it’s easy to do it yourself! Our bathing formulation is stress relieving, toxin-extracting blend of Epson Salt, Himalayan salt crystals, and Baking Soda. Epsom Salt to release energy blockages, extract toxins and ease any sore tired muscles. It also helps rid your body of radiation, great to use after a plane ride. Himalayan Rock Salt to energetically ground you and to soften the skin. Finally baking soda to extract toxins and cleanse and strengthen your auric field. This is a very healing combination – A Healing Trifecta.

Add some aromatherapy
Try our single note oils, chakra oils, or whatever else you like or have on hand, but try and make it as pure as possible. Smell is the most powerful sense we have and therefore truly shifts our mood / energy.

Add some audio therapy to create a calm & mood
Have music on as the backdrop to your beautiful dreams and harmonious environment. We have some nice CD’s and this article on sound therapy is very interesting.

Add some colortherapy
Bed, Bath and Beyond sell these amazing inexpensive under water lights, AquaLuxe, that change through the spectrum of the rainbow gently feeding your body some color energy and also creates a soothing ethereal atmosphere if you turn all other lights out. I also have one in my bedroom too and it’s very relaxing to lie in bed watching the colors transform, a nice way to gently fall into a happy dreamland.

Have a great daydream
See yourself happy, beautiful and loved. Imagine your in your ideal situation…really get into it, to the point where you know what you are wearing ☺ What we think we create, law of attraction, so be in vibration with positively wonderful fantastic beautiful things.

Self-Care time
While bathing it is the perfect time to do some self-care. I always hold my neurovasculars (holding head gently) and do lots of deep breathing.

Get your sleep!
Get into bed early and get good night’s sleep. Maybe do a meditation or visualization for radiant beauty before bedtime. Remember that whatever you go to sleep thinking about is what you will energetically keep with you all night, so even if it was a bad day, or night, think positive thoughts before bed; visualize yourself or your situation, as you want it, not what it necessarily is. Really see it, believe it and totally get into the positive thoughts / stories you create.
If you don’t believe me believe about the benefits of sleep believe Harvard and this one from WebMD

For people who think pampering only isn’t enough (Whaaaaat?) Here are some Night of Beauty Add-On’s

1. Meditation can and will change your life, if you so choose ☺
This can take only three minutes if you want it too. Any amount of time given to mindful breathing creates relaxation and many other benefits.

2. A few yoga moves never hurt anyone
Just enough to release and expand your energy, not to have a workout! Here is a nice bedtime yoga video.

3. Stretching – release some energy & create some space
Here are some gentle ones from our sister site, Cristina’s Energy Center – and this stretching video is so calming and gentle – very basic & only upper body but still – all openings are great openings!

Enjoy Your Night!!!!!

The Golden Star

This visualization puts you in harmony with the earth and heavens allowing for a broader sense of connection to your higher self. Don’t get caught up in the exact shapes I am describing – you can’t do this wrong. Let your own intuition guide you and intention is everything.

With eyes closed and breathing slowly and deeply imagine a 5 pointed star lying over your entire body. See a golden light begin to glow on the lower right side of your body, then see the golden light traveling up to the center of your body, then down to the lower left side of your body and then up to the middle of your right side, then see the golden light traveling straight over to the middle of your left side and then the golden light travels back to your lower right side creating a golden star over you. Now see this golden light begin to swirl in a clockwise circle within and around your body. Breath in this golden light and let it seep into every cell and part of your energy field.

You can create this golden star anywhere in your body – on a specific organ, on your entire physical body and you can even visualize this star larger than your physical body and let it encompasses your entire being and beyond. Whichever way you decide to visualize this you can also see the golden star gently floating down into the core of your being. It’s extremely healing and balancing. Enjoy!

Perfect Health

Take a few deep slow breadths and close your eyes. In your minds eye see a beautiful radiant color in the core of your being and see this light spreading through your entire body bathing every part of you with color radiance. You can use different colors for different areas of your body – let your inner physician guide you. Feel yourself being bathed in these illuminated colors and see this radiance spreading though your cells, organs – though your entire body. This light is now spreading beyond your physical body out into your auric field, your non-physical body, and you feel yourself expanding into perfect health. This light is putting your body and your energy into perfect health and harmony. Know that every part of you is in perfect health. Breathe it in.

Healthy Body and Mind With Color

Get comfortable, close your eyes and begin to breathe deeply and slowly in your nose and out your mouth. Let your minds begin to connect with a color that feels healing to you. In your minds eye begin to imagine this beautiful color showering down from the top of your head, through every part of your body and out your feet.

Now see this color bathing each organ. Start from the top of your body, with your brain and imagine what it looks like and see the color bathing it gently and say to yourself “All of my brain functions are in perfect health and are making healthy connections – thank you brain” and work your way down, eyes, throat, lungs, heart, liver, spleen, stomach, gallbladder, small and large intestine, kidney and bladder. See each organ bathed in a beautiful radiant color (or colors) and affirm it is in perfect health and thank it for doing its job so well. Send gratitude to each and every part of yourself. Once you are done let your hands rub up and down the sides of your arms and tell yourself what a great job you are doing, because you are. Breathe that in.

Helpful Colortherapy hint: A Color Shower Quickie. You can do this with your eyes open if you are, for example, waiting on line. Just imagine the color you feel most drawn to and see it showering down through your entire body or bathing a specific area.

You can never go wrong bathing yourself in colors, affirming your own health and thanking yourself – it goes a long way.

Clearing and Balancing Your Chakras

Strengthen and Balance Your Chakra Benefits:

  • Releases emotional toxins
  • Creates emotional balance
  • Helps you resolve the “stories” that create obstacles in your life
  • Increases overall health and happiness
  • Strengthens your entire energy field

This is really a fantastic exercise to do for yourself or for another. If you want to learn more about the chakras go for it but it’s not necessary for this exercise to be effective. We also have a video you can watch or a book you can read.

The Basic How To:
Lying face up, you are going to begin clearing the chakra with a counterclockwise motion, clearing, and then with the right hand in a clockwise motion, balancing. You are the clock and your head is twelve o’clock. Counterclockwise circles will mean your left hand starts moving left. Clockwise circles mean your right hand starts moving right.

A quickie you will make 3-4 circles counterclockwise with left hand and then using your right hand 3-4 circles clockwise. This takes only a minute to do and is easy incorporate into your daily energy tune-up.

If you want deeper results spend at least three minutes clearing and three minutes balancing. A deeper session is about 35-40 minutes, or more! You really need to use your intuition because sometimes you need to work on a chakra for 15 minutes or more – follow the energy, trust your intuition and you can’t go wrong – a long session is well worth it!!!!!

Helpful Hints:
These are not a rules just guidelines so trust your instincts. You may feel the need to spend more time over one chakra, maybe less on another. You might feel you need to shake the energy off your hands while you are doing this – just shake it off to the side, not on yourself or your partner. Hold your hands anywhere between 3 – 6 inches above the body. You want to try and make your circles at a slow calm pace and remember to breathe deeply and slowly.

Taking all this into consideration begin to clear and balance your chakras:

– The 1st or base chakra (over your pelvic area)
– The 2nd or sacral chakra (just under your belly button)
– The 3rd or solar plexus (bottom center of the ribcage)
– The 4th or heart (over the heart and breast)
– The 5th or throat chakra (over the throat)
– The 6th or third eye (between your eyebrows)
– The 7th or crown (top of the head). *** The crown chakra is the only tricky one because, if you’re a woman, you continue as you did with all the other chakras, counterclockwise and then clockwise, but if you are a man doing this to himself or if you’re doing this for a man you do the clockwise motion first and then counterclockwise.

Here is a more detailed version of how to clear and balance.

First thing to do if you are working on another is to ground and protect yourself. You can find more information about this in the blog / news: Caring For The Practitioner.

It’s best to do this lying down. If you are doing this for someone else you might want to have her lie on her stomach first. Place one hand on the base of her spine and the other at the top and gently rock her back and forth. It’s very soothing. Set the intention that you and the person you are working on will get what they need from this treatment, for the highest good of all involved.

Lying face up, take your left hand and place it a few inches above the 1st or base chakra (over the pelvic area) and move it in a counterclockwise circle – towards the right side of the body. Your left hand and counterclockwise movement draws energy out. Do this for about three minutes – this is a guideline, use your instincts for how long is needed. Shake the left hand off to the side as if shaking off any energy it’s collected and be conscious of where you shake if off. You don’t want to shake it onto yourself or another person, just into empty space.

Then move your right hand in clockwise circles, towards the left side of body, in the same place for the same amount of time and shake off energy when you’re done. The clockwise motion rebalances the energy of the chakras. Take lots of deep breaths and have the intention that you are clearing when you are going counterclockwise and the intention of balance when moving clockwise. Generally, your left hand receives energy and the right gives it.

OK, so you’ve done the 1st or base. Now move up to the 2nd or sacral chakra (just under your belly button) and do the same, then the solar plexus (bottom center of the ribcage), then the 4th or heart chakra (over the heart and breast area). The heart is a great place to incorporate figure-8s, especially for women. Next move to the 5th or throat chakra (over the throat area). Remember the throat chakra has seven chambers that extend past the actual throat area, so make sure you cover the area surrounding the throat as well. Next is the 6th or third eye (between your eyebrows) and then the 7th or crown (top of the head). The crown chakra is the only tricky one because, if you’re a woman, you continue as you did with all the other chakras, counterclockwise and then clockwise, but if you are a man doing this to himself or if you’re doing this for a man you make the clockwise motion first and then counterclockwise.

It’s a great idea to weave the chakras together after this with figure-8 motions. Begin at the base and make flowing figure-8 motions up the center of the body and off the head.

End by making figure-8 motions all around your or the persons body – above them, on the side and use your intuition as to wear your hands a drawn – as Donna Eden says “Follow the energy”.

You can make this a long session or a quickie, it’s up to you. The chakras have many layers so you may feel your hand energetically “drop” and that’s ok, it means you’ve moved to a deeper level. You may receive information in the form of a “knowing” – colors, images, smells, or maybe nothing. It’s all perfect, just go with it. If you are doing this for another, you and the other person will experience the things I just mentioned. A common thing that happens is seeing colors. If you’re working with someone it’s ok to have a dialog about what you’re feeling, but don’t have a full-on conversation because you want to stay tuned into the process.

I have done quick sessions on myself in the bath that have taken 5-10 minutes, other times 40 minutes, and the same goes for doing it for another. Let your intuition guide you. Also, after you have done the basic counterclockwise/clockwise movements, you may feel drawn to make other movements such as, figure-8s or upward circular motions as if you were pulling something out of the persons body. Just go with what feels right to you.

If you encounter an area or chakra level that is very heavy / dark / stuck and it just won’t loosen or release you might want to try Pain Pumping For The Chakras. It’s been very useful for me!

Chakra Color Choice

Reaping the benefits of the color you have chosen

  1. Visualize the color washing through you, this is a color shower.
  2. Wear the color. You absorb what you wear.
  3. Solarize your environment and the water you drink.
  4. Splash the color around your home with accessories. You may use flowers, pillows, sheets or whatever attracts you.
  5. To completely align all of your chakras, you can just place the cards on your body with each color facing its corresponding energy center. Breathe calmly for a few minutes while affirming to yourself that you are letting go of all negativity and blockages and aligning your chakras. You may also use a single card to align one energy center at a time – just place the appropriate card on the chosen energy center, breathe calmly and do the affirmation described above.
  6. Use the Chakra Oils and Chakra Stones to maintain the balance and health of your chakras.
* Try and focus on the color you have chosen for about three weeks. You can increase or decrease this time period depending on what your internal wisdom tells you. Trust yourself.
