Grounding

Earth’s healing energies are a vital part of our over-all health.

Just Some of the Benefits of Grounding:
 Helps to polarize and balance your bodies’ energy
 Promotes feeling centered
 Encourages feeling confident
 Re-vitalizes chi/core energy
 If you feel like your head is in the clouds, grounding will help you focus

Grounding Suggestions:

1. Earthing
My favorite way to stay grounded is to walk barefoot on our beautiful earth, preferably on lush grass but anyplace you love is perfect. Walk, run, dance or stand still – whatever feels good is good for you. I would just suggest taking a moment to stand still with hands on your thighs and take a few slow deep breadths in your nose and out your mouth. With each breadth let the roots in your feet gently go down deep into the earth and allow earths energies to flow into your roots and up into your body – it can feel very strengthening to your soul but there is a gentleness also.
Make sure to wiggle your feet and toes around and even down into the ground if you can, it feels fun and inspires a childlike openness.

2. Earthling Hands
Just as we walk barefoot in in the grass to ground ourselves we can also place the palms of our hands firmly onto the earth and this feeds us earths healing powers. It empowers us with its strength and love and it feels deeply comforting.

Stand barefoot, taking deep slow breathes for a moment or two and center your intention within and from within kneel down and place the palms of your hands firmly on mother earth. Let your hands move around and find the perfect a spot that feels right and let them be open and spread wide physically and non-physically. Let the energy of your hands become receptors for earths beautiful healing force, to it’s life-force, and let it fill you. Do this as long as it feels right to you.

At the end of this you can change your intention and send thanks / gratitude back to earth. When I have done this in the past I feel the earth gratitude for my gratitude and it makes me smile and laugh every time. It’s all subtle energy but beautifully powerful energy!

3. Getting And Giving A Hug From Mother Earth
Stand on the earth as mentioned above, in #1, but this time hold the palms of your hands facing downward and set the intention that nature’s energies are lovingly reaching up and into your hands, take some deep breathes, open your energies and you will feel it!

*** I have also stood in this position with one slight variation – my hands / palms were facing outward as if I was getting ready to hug someone – in this case the earth and I have felt waves of energy that seemingly come from all directions to meet me gently and it feels like the earths energies are hugging me and I hug back. It is one of the most joyful experiences of oneness you can have as the earth and your energies meet through your hands, feet and through every cell in your body – this one is beyond grounding, it’s profoundly spiritual. You can really feel the earth’s incredible power. The earth is hugging your soul!

*** Another suggestion is trying to lay flat on the earth with the side of your face on the earth, palms on the earth, with the intention you are telling the earth how much you love her and how sorry you are we are hurting her. I have found this to be very powerful. Just allow yourself time to energetically join the earths energies in love and gratitude.

4. Sitting or Standing Up Against A Tree
This will ground you for sure, and it will absorb any energy you need / want to release.
Try closing your eyes and feel yourself connect with the tree and its deep roots. Your roots reach out to connect deep into the earth and to wrap around a large stone or to the trees roots itself – whatever feels right to you. In this position, up against the tree, you can send not only the roots from your feet but also from a cord that stems out of the base of your spine – let it reach down into the earth and / or the tree itself to release and receive.
Now set your intent about what you want to release and / or receive – this could be getting rid of negativity in general, excess energy or something specific. There are no rules. Then take a few deep slow breathes and affirm you are letting go and feel energy pour out your feet and / or cord – it can be a subtle feeling at first but with mindfulness and by listening to your internal landscape you will begin to feel the flow of your energies. Empowering. Then ask the tree to send you the energies you need, like grounding, confidence, security and whatever you need through its deep roots and it happily will. Trees are very friendly and smart, check out this incredible video by Professor Suzanne Simard! And this is a great article as well!

5. Figure-8ing With Tress
I discovered this – if anyone really discovers anything – at the Omega Institute the last day I was assisting Donna Eden on one of her amazing 5-day trainings. I felt some release surfacing and went outside and sat up against a tree, as I do, and suddenly I lost it – sobbing. The waves of emotion began to match the waves I felt between another tree directly in from of me about 100 feet away? It was across a clearing and there were other trees but I knew this one was the one sending me energy too. I closed my eyes and clearly saw and felt a radiant figure-8 going between the trees and I was inside one of the 8’s. It was transcending and the happy tears of release streamed away and I felt my energy deepen into the earth and intertwine with these two trees. It was profound. I felt amazing after!

6. Spooning The Feet, And Hands
Our physical body has polarities – our head is the north polarity and our feet the south. Sometimes due to life or shifting earth energies they get reversed and using a stainless steal spoon to correct your polarities is wonderful! This is very important for grounding because our feet are where you take in the earth’s yin and healing energy.

With a stainless steel spoon, use the round side; rub all over the bottoms of your feet. Rub every-where, even the sides. Try doing figure-8’s with the spoon too. You can actually use the front side of the spoon, or even a fork but not too hard, if the other way isn’t working or you may want to just try a new variation. It’s an option but just be careful of how hard you press – it should feel firm but gentle.

Spooning the feet will correct the polarity on your head but to make sure your head is correctly polarized you can use your hand – flip your hand back and forth so that the palm is down and flip it over so the back of your hand is flat on the head – you can do this quickly and it corrects any imbalances…speaking of hands…

Our hands have polarities too so spooning them is very helpful. If your polarities are not correct you will not be able to connect with someone when you shake their hand – let alone if you are using your hands for healing work. An interesting note about shaking hands – if you want to really connect with someone use both your hands when shaking them. One hand is shaking and the other is gently placed on the back of the other persons hand and this creates a complete energetic connection. Bill Clinton always did this and is perhaps why so many people reported feeling an instant connection with him. Basically carry a spoon with you at all times, joking, but do remember your hands have electromagnetic energy so if there is no spoon in sight just use them to correct all your polarities by flipping them facing up and down.

Our non physical body has polarities too – about a foot over our head, over our heart and between our legs, this is best to energy test for but I see no harm in gently using your hands over these areas just in case.

These are a great Eden energy Medicine Technique.

7. Grounding With A Hematite Crystal
Hematite is a very grounding stone and when all else fails I always put a tumble hematite stone on the side of each pinky toe and I just sit there for a few minutes – you usually can feel it when you’ve grounded – trust your intuition! But, it’s a great quick fix.

Try this Grounding Visualization.

Healers note:
Healing energy travels faster through earth than air so if you are doing long distance healing for someone try and lay on the ground palms facing down and send out the healing! When I do Skype sessions I have a small square of green grass (you can buy them at a plant store / nursery / farmers market) and I place my feet on it to increase the energy transmission – and it is helpful in releasing energy for you and your client.

And, being barefoot in the grass, as mentioned above, is very grounding.

The Legendary Kogi & Their Wisdom

This is part one of three personal stories about my Shamanic journey to Colombia December 2016. Other posts include a Wondrous Heart Opening and The Many Cristina’s

A super long post, sorry, so it’s broken into sections and certain topics in bold for you to find what interests you the most as you scroll through. I have some great environmental recourse links at the end…but one very important part of this journey was that it lead our group to create a Land For The Kogi Fund, a private fund to help them reclaim their ancestral lands and I am thrilled to report that through our efforts we raised close to $10,000 which bought 99.7 acres of land, and we had enough left over to buy them a solar panel so for light, which they have never had till now. More details on this towards the end of the post but feeling very proud! Being in service to others is a beautiful gift and I am thankful I was able to be apart of helping them because they sure did help and affect me!

Who Are The Kogi?
The Kogi, our Elder Siblings, the Guardians of Mother Earth are living in what they consider the “Heart of the World”. They have a profound wisdom about nature that could very well make everyone rethink their ideas on the environment and the universe. They offer us solutions that are so simple – to connect, ground and respect the earth or “Aluna” what they call Mother Earth, Ocean Mama and Father Universe. They have a presence that commands respect and opens your heart and worldview boundlessly.

The power of their wisdom and energy is humbling. They live in the Colombian Sierra Nevada Mountains but few people outside of Colombia know who they are and what they represent and now is the time they have chosen to come out and share their hearts to teach us in hopes of saving our planet.

They are the direct decedents of the Tarona tribe who fled up to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to escape servitude – the Conquistadors never conquered them in the 500th century so their culture is pure. Since the 1988 documentary From the Heart of the World: The Elder Brothers’ Warning (Kogi message) they have not let many into their community, let alone to stay with them, until now. Our group lead by John Perkins, Daniel Koupermann and Jaruen were invited to stay in one of their communities for a night to partake in ceremonies and teachings. They invited us into their sacred ceremonial lands and spaces.

Before we could enter their community they had us purify ourselves – discussed further on in Ceremonies and Offerings in this post. In the morning a beautiful Moma, Manual, invited us into a sacred space for the men and the honor we felt was palpable. Within this sacred hut he told us that we are now accepted into their hearts and that they consider us friends – there was not a dry eye in the house! To be apart of this historic trip of meeting and staying with them was amazing in itself but the openness and acceptance of us into their hearts is beyond what I can express. I will take this opportunity to honor our group. We had a collective purity and openness of heart – we were all there with respect and honor towards them and I believe they recognized that. Massive amounts of gratitude to the amazingly beautiful souls I traveled who are pictured on this post.

We had the great honor of meeting with them 3 other times for teachings and ceremonies, one which was unexpected so it was a beautiful sign that we were / are in harmony with their purpose.

The Kogi are now ready to actively teach us and share their wisdom…we must listen. Some will not like what they hear because it can be a hard pill to swallow when you recognize your participation in doing harm to the earth and our fellow man, it was for me, and that’s ok. But this bitter pill is what will allow us to accept their truths. We are ready to accept truth when we are ready but I encourage you to reflect on their wisdom. It is worth mentioning that to become a Moma / Shaman you are chosen at the age of 1-2 years old and for the next 25 years endure intense training. The Kogi people honor their own wisdom, they practice what they preach in such a deep way and we can all learn from that – major respect!

Kogi Wisdoms
The Kogi busted open my mind and energy and gave me such wisdom about earth and life. Man I thought I was so connected to earth but they tore apart that illusion! I do not mean to diminish any of my past connections with Aluna – it’s been a constant in my life since childhood and earth has helped me and me it but they way the Kogi speak about it is unlike anything I have ever heard. When they speak it’s as if you are receiving an energy transmission so you are not only hearing the information you are feeling it – many of my fellow travelers commented on this.

One of the main messages was how we are destroying our earth. They talked about how every step we take greatly affects the world around us. In cities we may not take notice of this but in nature it’s more obvious. Getting in touch with how we affect our world is a crucial part in creating positive change, not just for the planet but also for our internal landscape. The solution is a deeper connection with earth.

My friend Theresa got to ask one of the Moma’s what he thought were the most import things we can do and, “He said the most important thing to share with family & friends is to encourage everyone to become more connected with nature – to spend more time out in it, to plant our own food – but essentially to reconnect so that our love & respect for our planet can grow.”

It is our duty to accept responsibility for the damage we have done and continue to do. They spoke of how we hurt the earth through explosions just to get minerals, to get crystals, and the tears uncontrollably streamed down my face as I realized my participation in this damage. I tried to explain what I do in my business and asked how I could change my ways. If you pick up a stone yourself and ask permission it is ok they said but to mindlessly collect pretty shinny stones is supporting the desolation of our Mother Earth. I clearly see my part in hurting the earth and I am ashamed. John said to me, and I paraphrase, I really do feel your pain but there is nothing you can do about the past so let that go and re-evaluate how you move forward. I am fully committed to changing my personal ways, how I sell and present my T&T crystals and in encouraging others to do the same, as gently as I can. Most of us have awareness about the harm and destruction from diamond mines but not about crystals, I didn’t, and now I know the same harm is being done. Especially because crystals popularity has sored and even in my beauty industry it has become a major trend thus creating more demand which then creates harsher extraction practices and treatment to the workers. By Kogi standards anything that is not offered to you from the earth directly is not good. I am still processing this and figuring out how to ethically continue my crystal use. I have tons of crystals in stock for sale and in my oil blends. I have apologized to them since I am home. The crystals I use for healings are fine because I have a deep relationship with those guys – my personal crystals are given lots of love and gratitude. But until I figure it all out I will be asking anyone who wants to buy my crystals to do so with the awareness that they are a life force given to us by Mother earth. I want to bring an awareness of deep gratitude in hopes anyone with crystals will value and honor them in a deeper way.

I found it amazing to hear their thoughts on happiness. They say if you are unhappy in life you are not connected to earth. We all get so busy we forget to slow down and evaluate how we really are. My friend Theresa reminded me about what Jared, a great guy in our group, asked about their definition of success and they didn’t fully understand that concept in the way he was asking because their concept of success is passing on their wisdom and honoring the earth but his take away is worth sharing. He said he thought he’d been doing things the right way based on our measure of success but knows now that means nothing. And that more importantly, we throw our elders away, cast them aside and ignore them instead of learning all that we can from them and passing it along to our children and grandchildren. Sharing the wisdom of the elders is one of their highest missions.

From my own research on happiness I know in cultures where elders are respected and included with their families and communities their lives are extended and happier, and the meaning of those around them is increased.

They say above all else they respect and honor woman because we give life and they believe that it is only the woman who hold the wisdom to tell the men STOP, you have gone too far and this currently has implications to every aspect of every sentient being. So calling all ladies, we have to empower ourselves and value ourselves enough to know our words have meaning and will help change the world. Many men will support us in this effort but it’s the men who do not like this that we must find a way to reach. I would ask you to evaluate how you can contribute to shapeshifting our world into a place of love and harmony. Remember everything counts, there are no small acts!

Women Supporting Women
We keep learning lessons in life but in our openness learn them in a deeper way as we move forward. On this trip the importance of woman supporting woman deepened. My friend Jonelle said we have a new collective paradigm to support and nurture each other and she and another girlfriend, Theresa, showed me that support during this journey. Each of them on an important journey to fully come into their power and they are inspiring. Many modern cultures have somehow lost much of this but not the Kogi.

This is an important time for woman – in my energy medicine world we speak about this being a time of the matriarch. It is time for us to be empowered and help heal the world and by supporting each other, and by sharing our hearts we inspire each other. John was very encouraging to all the women in the group to speak out and share our stories because now is the time we need women’s wisdom and the way to optimize that is by us celebrating, supporting and empowering each other.

A collective energy has been birthed out of our trip. I believe we can help the Kogi keep and share their wisdom and that more and more people will awaken to their message. We can shapeshift our world to one of loving-kindness and respect, not our current state of mindlessness and destruction. I think if we are all honest with ourselves we will see how we contribute to our disposable society. Gentleness is required to get some people to change because who wants to admit they are hurting themselves, their loved loves and our planet – it’s not easy to look at but this truth and the awareness can transform our lives on every level and just maybe we can co-create a harmonious, healthy and happy planet.

Our Disposable Lives
As I said some of these are hard lessons or adjustments to make, we all like to go out and grab a Starbucks or buy new cloths instead of mending the old ones. It’s easier for busy people to order in or eat frozen food instead of making it themselves. We are living disposable lives so from that point of view how can expect our internal world not to be just as disposable? We are not disposable and need to value ourselves more. The Kogi say the only answer to all this is to deepen our connection to earth, to constantly make offerings, to be aware of what we take and what we give back…this is not dissimilar to the other indigenous people I’ve had the honor of learning from. The time to listen to the indigenous voice has come!

The following are all questions I am personally revisiting thanks to the Kogi. What do you give yourself? What do you give away? Do you love and honor yourself and if so how? Do you value your life and gifts and again if so how? Do you respect yourself? Do you respect our planet? How do you treat your body? Do you honor your elders? Do you have compassion for your fellow man? What do have that you really do not need? What can you do without in order to help others? All these questions should be deeply pondered in an honest way because if you are open to seeing where improvements can be made you can and will transform yourself and those around you to have a more loving harmonious, meaningful and joyful life.

Honoring Life
We must recognize these indigenous tribes have a wisdom that has been lost to many of us. So many of us are separated from the earth that literally breathes life into us. My friend explained to me how if you turn a tree upside down or the lungs right-side up they look almost exactly alike – the trees literally are our lungs and our lungs the trees. That every breath we take in is receiving the yin of life and every exhale the giving yang of life – I hope I am getting that right, will correct if need be. The idea is clear to me though…that with every breath we are connected to nature, to earth and there is no separation between anything so if we dishonor the earth, nature, we dishonor ourselves. When we hurt the earth we hurt ourselves. The opposite is true as well – we can care for Aluna we heal her. There are so many ways to do this and doing some good old fashion earthing and earth hugging is a great place to start! So is mindful breathing! You can set the intent that with every breath you are feeding life and love into our world.

There is no green without blue; no blue without green…just as there is no “us” without a healthy environment. We must protect our oceans and forests for without them we will perish – the tipping point has arrived and it is time to take action. Some ideas of how to do this are listed at the end of this post.

Ceremonies and Offerings
From other indigenous experiences I know how important making offerings are to the Aluna. The Mayan’s also speak about how we have to honestly look at what we take from earth and what we give back. We must make offerings for what we take from the earth and from any energy we draw from. There must always be an equal and balanced exchange of energy. If you feel there has not been an equal exchange you may want to try a forgiveness cerimony the Mayan’s taught us or do the Cotton offering I speak about below.

Cotton Offerings and Strings of Achievement
Before entering the first Kogi village we were given a small piece of cotton and told to put all our negativity, worries and unneeded energy into it, which we then gave back to them. They would later bury this cotton. This signified our purity to enter their village and we received a simple but beautiful sting around our wrists to signify our purity of heart and energy.

Before we left this same Kogi village we were asked to put all our apologies to the earth into another piece of cotton. It was raining hard and they said this was a great sign from Aluna that she received and accepted our “sorrys”. This one got me big time. I wasn’t expecting it to be so effortless, I held the cotton in my hand and instantly tears of sorrow began to fall, it felt cleansing to take responsibility for the damage I have done and for what we have all done to our mother earth. I kept saying I am sorry I am sorry and I felt the earth accept my apology, which is currently beyond words for me.

The last Kogi ceremony we had was on a beach that has a lagoon on one side and ocean on the other, magic yet again. There where many sacred Kogi stones, the number nine has great significance to them and in this place were nine holes in large stones, and they said if our intentions were true the water in the holes would begin to bubble and spin clockwise. We were asked to place our sacred items on the sacred stone. We were with the Kogi Moma, Juan, his pregnant wife and his son who is a moma in training and we got to witness the father teaching the son how to make an offering – allowing us to see this was an honor beyond words!

The Kogi Moma asked us to ask the universe for enlightenment and I write about this in my heart opening post but it’s important to mention here as well since it’s a Kogi ceremony. I found the wording I needed “Let the light of enlightenment flow through me” but I felt something was missing; I needed to offer something in return. I offered the universe my fully open divine femininity and the message was received and my journey deepened. I opened and connected in a way that I can’t fully express. It was an ecstatic feeling that I connect with daily now.

During this ceremony I did feel the light come into me and I was laying on the sand, head on a sacred stone and I realized suddenly a stone was in my hand and that it felt soft and feminine – it was soothing like a stress stone. I felt it was a gift from Aluna. I heard the moma family behind me so I open my eyes to look back sensing the ceremony was coming to an end and the moma (shaman) looked me right in the eyes and nodded to me as if to say YES – I felt like he saw my connection and I enjoyed that moment of recognition. We received two cotton bracelets this time with a little bead on it, they hold such value to me, and I never want them to fall away….

During our surprise invitation to another Kogi village, later that day, the moma asked us to put 9 wishes into the cotton he gave to use. He said they would then be taken high into the Sierra Nevada Mountains to be buried in the earth – to plant the seeds of our wishes. He invited us into their “school” and spent a fair amount of time explaining the meaning of their sacred items – the experience felt very special. Beautiful. Grateful.

Cotton Ceremony At Home
You can easily do this cotton purification ceremony on your own – I have since I’ve been home. You take a cotton ball, organic is best, and sit outside on nature, or by a house plant if you live in a city, and meditate on what you want to let go of, or apologize for or wish for. I meditate on this for about 10 minutes and then bury the cotton or throw it in water, and on one occasion I flushed it down the toilet – intention is everything! You then turn in a 360-degree clockwise circle and then counter clockwise 360 degrees and your done. Always thank earth / nature for absorbing what you have let go of and the earth will then happily transform it back into pure source energy.

Why We Wanted To Help The Kogi

Giving Money To Their Mission
They are in a dire situation where some of the communities that are in the highest parts of the mountains are starving because of infertile soil. They are still recovering from having been abused by the Colombian farmers, the FARC and mainly the right wing Paramilitaries since the beginning of the republic. In the 60´s they were abused for the marijuana plantations and then after that for the coca plantations.

Now the Colombian government has controlled the illegal activities in the area, and this is why the Kogi’s can now come back to their ancestral lands in the lower part of Sierra Nevada where agriculture is viable, as well the weather, and maybe they can have access to some basic health services.

One of the Kogi’s biggest missions right now is to share and preserve their wisdom. Jaruen, our local guide was super open, sweet and is close with the Kogi – he had taken a couple of them into his home when they were in danger from the Narco’s. He said too much wisdom is dying with their elders and they need to find a way to get around to all of the Mamos/Elders and glean as much of their wisdom as possible, not just for themselves for future generations. He said they would require financial support to provide the transportation and resources they need to travel to various villages. Jared asked if they’d rather have money for land or money for transportation and Jaruen said buying back the land was most important because then they could live together and share the wisdom on a daily basis. He said that they would view success as being able to harness and relay all of that wisdom. To me this shows their incredible purity of heart.

Our goal was to raise $10,000, which would buy almost 4 HECTARES (10 ACRES) of land for them and we did it!!!! We even had enough money left over to buy them a solar panel, which will enable them to work at night. This was a private fundraising initiative and I am so proud! I will keep everyone updated once more inicatives are under way.

Help Honor And Share Their Message
I hope I was able to relay some of their wisdom here but please also check out the BBC Documentary as well as John Perkins Blog about this trip.

Preserve Nature
I would ask you to look around your immediate community and see how you can help preserve nature and earth itself. Even in NYC there are ways to do this with Green Roofs and Community Gardens so I know outside the city your efforts will be easily achieved.

Be conscious of your Eco Footprint. When I measured mine I was shocked!

Learn about Earth Energies.

Learn to Connect With Earth.

In Colombia I’d like to find a way to help to stop Don Diego River being dammed up. That is the river we floated down on tubes and it was filled with life in and around it. It was also a gathering spot for the locals. At one point we passed a small beach where families had gathered to connect in song, dance and fun and it really made a lot of us think wow you might look at where these people live and think how sad, they are so poor but that is our false perception. They have everything – love, community and natures gifts. If this river is dammed up all of those guys who carried our luggage up and down the river and the men who kept us “in bounds” on the river would all be out of a job and that the village would cease to exist without the revenue generated from the tubing experience. So damming up a river is not just the loss of a beautiful nature reserve it is ending the livelihood of those beautiful people. I am throwing this out to the universe and would love to hear from anyone who is able to let me know ways to support this not happening! Thank you.

Chakra Radiance

If you are unsure where your chakras are….
For basic chakra clearing and balancing
I’ll be making a video of all these techniques but until then if you need visual help just contact me and I will be happy to send you a picture or even a quick Skype call to demonstrate…

Chakra Heart Connections
Sometimes our individual chakras may be super strong but they may not be connected to each other and we need them to be. They need to communicate and transmit supportive energy to each other, and to our Auric field, so making sure they are connected is fantastic chakra and healthy energy maintenance!

If you know how to self-test fantastic but in all honesty I always connect them all at the same time – it cares for the entire chakra system and our energy, and chakras, appreciates that.

A beautiful way to connect your chakras is with over-laying hearts. With the palms of your hands trace a heart over your 1st / base chakra and from the bottom of the heart pull the energy up to your 2nd / sacral chakra and trace the heart so that the bottom of it ends within the top of the heart you just made on your 1st / base. From this spot you pull upward to your 3rd / solar plexus chakra and let it end inside the top of the 2nd / sacral chakra. You continue this upward, it’s almost like weaving hearts and over-laying them up your body to just over the top of your head.

Figure-8’ing The Chakras
This is super simple yet super powerful. With the palm of your hand, starting at the 1st or base chakra (over the pelvic area) and you make figure-8 motions, slowly, upward towards the sacral or 2nd chakra and then continue this all the way up to and slightly above your head. Take your time, three slow breaths worth of time to connect each chakra to the one above it.

Once you have completed the above finish with a two-handed, crossing over, continuous figure-8 motion up the front of your body. Instead vertical figure-8’s you are now making horizontal figure-8’s with both hands and your hands crossover each other as you harmoniously weave upwards. You are not only connecting each chakra but also creating crossovers within many of your energy systems and it feels amazing!

Waving Into The Chakras
Inspired by Eden Energy Medicines Heaving Rushing In

It’s simple and powerful! I’ve been doing this for long time now and it makes me, and my clients, happy every time! The benefits are limitless bringing joy, radiance and healing into your bodies energy systems. You can also customize this for whatever energy you need at the time. Sometimes we need comfort, other times bravery, just know whatever you need is available through this self-care tool.

1. Quickie Version. Standing, sitting or lying down have your palms upward, arms slightly extended from your body, about 1-2 ft., as this is really one continuous movement where you open your hands upward briefly to bring radiant energy into the palms of your hand and then with a flowing wave motion you scoop that energy into your chakra(s). You start at your 1st / base chakra moving up to the 7th / crown. You may feel the radiance in the form of heat or even a tickle, it will be different for everyone, and some may even see it. I sometimes visualize golden balls of energy in my hands and I connect to all the joy and love in the universe and then scoop that into each chakra. Remember you can call upon any energy you need, such as happiness, confidence, relaxation etc. I usually do this process pretty quickly and because of that as I move up the chakras I am creating crossovers at the same time. It’s like Lacing the Nadis, except you move upwards and are scooping in universal radiance as you go.

2. Shamanic Version. In Tikal Guatemala we were doing a sacred ceremony at night in the middle of a ruin that was an energy portal to the Pleiades star constellation. The energy was out of this world, literally! I wanted this radiant magical energy to become apart of me. I was lying down on the grass and began to make true wave motions. I opened my arms stretching them outward as far as they could go, palms up and slightly higher than my body. Sometimes I turned my palms to touch the ground and then upward because I wanted to get the earth energies as well as the cosmic ones. So with palms up I let them fill with the high frequency energy I was bathing in and I slowly waived that energy into each chakra. It’s not one wave, it’s a few encouraging waves. It was a smooth and gentle gathering of the energies surrounding me and seeding within me. I did this several times to each chakra. Sometimes the waving was continuous and other times I took the time to let my hands sit on the chakra I was feeding, which really allowed that chakra to soak in and root to the radiant energy. This is a very instinctual technique, you want to follow the energy and do what feels right to you. Set the intention for what you want to bring in and affirm that it is very loving, nurturing and radiant.

You don’t need to be in some sacred place to connect to this kind of high frequency energy, you can do it in your backyard or even your floor – intention is everything! Mother earth is wise so you can ask that she connect you with certain energies and / or places anywhere in the world – everything is connected! I often call upon places where I have had profound meditations or experiences; it’s a great tool and a great reminder of our oneness with everything.

3. I have found doing all these radiant chakra techniques in different environments and times of the day can really shift what you bring in. At night you can bring in moon energy and all its femininity, its gentleness and radiance. Do it in the middle of the day and take in the power of the sun energy, which I have found to be energizing, uplifting and joyful.

You can of course always visualize any part of this process – our mind and intentions have great power!

Speaking of intention….

Ellen Meredith teaches us to tap into radiance and let it “drip” into your chakras, or any other place in your body that needs radiance, like an injury or someplace that just feels stuck, blocked or heavy. It’s quite simple, using your intuition and intention to find some radiance – point your left pointer finger up in the air and move it around until you feel radiance and let your finger plug into it. Then hold your right hand / pointer finger over the area you want to fill with radiance and these 2 hand / finger positions will allow radiant energy to flow into you.

Trust yourself and enjoy!

Daily Activities To Keep You In Vibration

To follow your path and to attract what you want in your life it all begins within you, as I’m sure you know. There are certain things we can do daily to stay in vibration with what we want, such as feeling loved, joyful, confident, inspired, healthy etc. these daily activities are joyful things so fear not – this is not meant to be a burden to your “to do” list.

If you feel any of this is a burden examine why that is – is it internal resistance? If it is take some time to ask yourself why, i.e. “If I know that stopping what I am doing for a quick stretch will make me feel great why don’t I want to do that? Where is the resistance?” Eckhart Tolle speaks about being attached to your pain body – is your pain apart of how you define yourself? Just ask yourself a few questions and see what comes up.

And I have to add “I work in a large office where I can’t do that” is not a valid excuse – I have many clients who tell me they go into the bathroom and do whatever energy exercise they need and they feel better so look at the excuses you tell yourself. We are all experts at rationalizing why we can or can’t do something – what we should or shouldn’t do; I’d actually say we are all masters of it and that’s a whole other story.

I understand it can be difficult in this crazy never stop culture we live in and you may feel you are so busy and really can’t find a moment for yourself and if this is the case perhaps you want to restructure your day slightly – just a bit. One absolute is you must find you time everyday – it can be just a few minutes but it has to happen – especially when you are trying to change your life and the vibration of who you are.

Here are some great options to put you in and keep you in the vibration you want. Do one, a few or all – the only rule is to do at least one of these things a day and I bet if you start with one you will want more.

Happy Vibrations Everyone!

Daydream. Easy to do anywhere, anytime. When we daydream which is a form of visualization you begin to actually feel what it would be like to be in that beautiful daydream and when you feel it you believe it and that puts you in vibration with it.
Meditate. People get scared away from this because so many speak about how you must do it for 20-30 minutes a day and you think no way do I have the time but I can tell you from experience that 3-5 minutes will change your day!
Breath. This really goes hand in hand with meditation but just take a few slow deep breadths and it can change your mood and day. Deep breathing is amazingly affective to our mental state!
Spend time outside. Whether in the city or country or somewhere in-between we need to let our energy and mind take a deep breadth and give you room to expand and when your outside it’s the perfect time to ground. When we are grounded it’s easier to be in vibration with our dreams because as Donna Eden says “The deeper you ground, the farther out you can go” translating that to this topic we learn deeper roots allow for bigger dreams.
Expand. Open your heart, mind and energy and connect to the cosmos’s, to your source and give gratitude. Whether you are calling it by name, there are many, or if it’s just sending out a general energy of gratitude it will change your life. Gratitude is extremely powerful for you and everyone you interact with. When you show gratitude you are immediately sent positive energy. Gratitude just feels right and offers happiness in return. Gratitude is beautiful. When you’re in this great state of mind it’s easy to stay in vibration with what you want.
Journal. Gratitude journals are very effective but it can really be any kind of positive expression you want to make – just keep it positive – stay on the sunny side of the street – ignore any thunderstorms across the street – it’s your choice to walk in the light or sun in this metaphor. But the written word has power – I would even say don’t use the computer. Write in a journal that is exclusively used for this and if you are having a bad day you can look back and smile at all the things you are grateful for. Repetition is allowed ☺
The power of ritual. This is a bit deeper but I wanted to give you the information to offer more options. We all resonate with different things.

Creating Your Own Sacred Ritual

Rituals are powerful tools in our lives and when we make them our own we deepen the meaning. A ritual can be anything you make it, simple or complex, but it is a repetition of certain words, gestures and actions. It has religious origins from Paganism to Christianity. Many of my suggestions have been used since the dawn of time but I speak about them in terms of our current time space.

Creating Your Sacred Space
Energy will build and hold a space when it used time and time again for the same purpose. That is why I feel having an alter of some sort for meditation, or even reflective thought, is really important. I actually have two spots in my apartment where I meditate. And as soon as I sit in that area I can go deeper quickly because the energy is ready and has the vibration I want to go into.

An alter can be anything you hold sacred. For some that is nature for others it’s traditional / religious – it’s all perfect! I believe in many things – I take bits and pieces from all cultures and religions so my alter is very eclectic and I love it that way. I have symbols from Buddhism, Hinduism, Shamanism and representations from nature such as wood, crystals and objects that hold a sacred meaning to me, even a few pictures that represent a spiritual moment in time that I hold deeply in my heart. Most of what is on my alter has been there for many many years so it now “holds” the energy of deep and reflective thought, non thought and focused visualization.
Big or small your sacred space / alter will give you a beautiful space that is all yours! I have heard many people say it’s important to not let others touch things on your alter – that’s a personal decision but that said I think having people ask permission is valuable and honors the space.

Meditation
Meditation itself is a ritual but I like to add a beginning and ending. As a ritual I always do what I call The Three Gratitude’s before and after my meditation. I bow three times with my hands in the prayer position, once touching my forehead and I thank the heavens and all the powers that be, then in front of my heart and I thank all my selves (all aspects of who I am & my guides) and then palms facing down or even on the ground and I thank the earth. Sometimes just doing that on it’s own can be a great ritual!

Meditating under a tree is magical as well (that’s how the Buddha did it). If you have a tree you can befriend keep going to that one tree and whether you are conscious of it or not an energetic relationship will begin and strengthen over time. Trees are smart! Just read this and watch this. But in general when you sit up against a tree it grounds you deeply which increases a strong sense of self and life purpose.

Fire It Up! To Let Go & Receive
There are a few ways to do this. In your head as a visualization but I like the hands on version best to be honest – it feels more powerful but that’s a personal preference. It also depends on my time restraints and location. If I have little time or am in a public setting I go to the visualization but when I have the time I go hands on.

– The visualization – take some slow deep breaths in your nose and out your mouth and in your minds eye see a big bowl that has fire in its center. Begin to see what you want to get rid of and throw it in the fire for it to burn into the ether – it goes back to source where it is purified and recycled.

– Hands On – have two bowls, one for what you are getting rid of and the second for what you want to bring into your life. Make sure you do this is a space where the fire will not set your house on fire! Be mindful!!!! Take some paper and write down three things you want to get rid of and three things you want to bring into your life. I have found this to be very powerful when you do it with a friend or two.

Start with what you want to get rid of and read it out loud and then light it up and throw it in the bowl and sit and watch it burn. The way it burns can be informational as well – it’s not dissimilar to tea reading, just trust your intuition, divining how it burns is not the point here. Just watching it burn can be mesmerizing and deepens your focus on letting go. If you are with a friend(s) take turns doing the first part, each reading one of your three things, burning it and continue this cycle until all three things have been burnt in the bowl. Then move onto what you want to bring in using the same technique. Once done go outside and starting with the bowl of what you want to get rid of and say “I release this…” or whatever words work for you and toss the burnt paper out of the bowl and into the wind – everyone does the release first. Then do the same with what you want to bring into your life and again use what words work for you but I usually say “Everything I want will come into my life” and once this is done take a moment to say “So be it, so it is, for the highest good of all involved” – again whatever words work for you are just perfect – intention is everything.

Intention Candles / Light
These are fun, powerful and create beautiful ambient light at night. I’ve already written about this and you can read it though this intention candle link. I am pretty consistent doing these intention candles on every new and full moon – and especially on equinoxes and traditional holidays. Sometimes it’s elaborate and sometimes it’s not – to me as long as your intention is clear and true the universe hears you and honors you by you honoring it.

But I would add there are many other candle rituals that are beautiful, especially a rite of passage ritual and candle ceremonies on the equinoxes. The candles light is seen as a vehicle to bring you closer to spirit, as fire is an ethereal element, as is water. Usually candles are lit and paced to create a spiral (to honor cosmic sacred geometry) and each person walks through the spiral coming out on the other side as a new person or with a new “place” in life. For instance in Eden Energy Medicine the students walk through as a rite of passage to become certified practitioners and in the Rudolf Steiner world a child walks in silence through the path as they leave behind one grade and enter into a more adult grade.

Winter equinox has an especially beautiful ritual of everyone making their own lanterns and they place a candle in an apple, inside the lantern, and the spiral path has already been created and people walk silently from the inside outward as an inwardly gesture of winter. This also represent the end of the darkness as they enter the light coming back – this is to honor the earths seasonal rhythms. Each school or group of people will do this differently but they are all beautiful!

The Healing Bath
This to me has always been a sacred ritual, maybe my first because as a child I would fill the bath and then also leave the shower on to create my own magical secret water world. Soaking tubs are the best but any tub will do. Fill it with bubbles, aromatherapy and even colortherapy if you like! Add Epson and Himalayan salts, and Baking Soda and you have a healing bath. Light a candle or buy an ambient light that can change colors and you can create a sacred space. Water is healing and cleansing to the soul, as well as the body. This healing bath is enough in itself but if you want to add some extra healing / self-care you can hold your neurovasculars and / or do a chakra clearing and balancing – both are easy and nourishing to do in your healing bath.

Get In A River
If you have access to a stream / river that is not too deep you can create a serious cleansing ritual. I first did this with John Perkins in the Ecuadorian rainforest. We all shed our cloths and jumped in the river and laid down and let the water run over us and as we did this we affirmed it was washing away all our fear and anything unwanted in our lives – it was amazing, powerful and very energetically cleansing! Obviously this is seasonal for many people and many will want privacy but if you can do it, it’s very powerful and I do believe you can get the same benefits with a bathing suit on, of course, but honestly there is something sacred about being naked in the water – it’s primal and our energy seems to automatically know what it’s supposed to do – let go and be free!

Music and Dance
I put these together because for me and most of the people I know it goes hand in hand. Put on your “energy” music – whatever gets your energies buzzing and dance and sing away. Think about it – there are some songs that bring you back to a special and happy time in your life and you can access that anytime by listening to the song, and moving and grooving to it is the cherry on top – get funky, free and free form. That said the two are powerful rituals on their own as well.

Exercise
Many people use this as their ritual, especially yoga and dance. I grew up jogging so for me I can easily get into the no thought zone – and I’m getting crossovers as well (the runners high) so it’s an Eden Energy Medicine Therapy as well.

Cooking
It’s an art and when you cook consciously by using your positive thoughts to infuse into the food you can really get in the zone and if you cook for your family it can be you time or bonding time – both are great.

Other Random Ideas

– Dance under a full moon – with or without clothing. As a child of the seventies nudity was encouraged not shamed so I say lets put a bit of 70’s energy back into our 21st century lives. It’s very freeing!

– Sit in a talking stick circle where the only person who speaks is holding the stick and then it is passed on either by someone raising their hand to respond or just in a continuous circle. It creates a safe place for people to know they can speak at their own pace without interruption. This is usually done with a specific topic or intention.

– Any holiday can and is a ritual.

– Saging your home is a great cleansing ritual.

– Sitting down with your family for dinner is a beautiful bonding ritual that our modern society has seemingly pushed aside – bring it back into your home!

– Even sports games can be a ritual, albeit a noisy one but still a bonding can and usually does occur.

The point of any ritual is to honor you, all sentient beings, the world and special events. The events, or rituals, are meant to bring you closer to your inner being, your inner light. They are meant to create a feeling of oneness with spirit and that can take many many forms.

When creating your own ritual remember intention is everything!!!
Enjoy!

The Radiant Tree

Get comfortable and begin to breath slowly and deeply in your noise and out your mouth.

Imagine you are deep in the woods surrounded by beautiful healthy green leaves and grass everywhere. See yourself laying down on the soft warm ground and continue your deep slow breathing.

Begin to feel yourself, as if a seed, begin to root your body, your energy into the ground. Your roots deepen and become one with the earth – you begin to feel your body expand and reach upward. You are transforming, growing into a strong beautiful tree. You are drawing up strength from your roots to for your energy to transform into the tree trunk, and you grow branches and on these branches leaves and flower begin to blossom.

You now begin to feel warmth showering down on you. You see radiant universal light showering down into and onto you, coating your branches and leaves with shimmering radiant light.

Let these images and feelings of being this radiant tree sink deeply into who you are. In your heart you can see how beautiful you are and you know you can easily become everything you want to be. Breathe that in and call upon this energy whenever you need it.

The Zip-Up

Zip-up Benefits:

  • Strengthens your central meridian
  • Grounding, centering and boosts confidence
  • Protecting against outside energies
  • Helps you feel less vulnerable to people and environments.

With Eden Energy Medicine you learn how to protect and support your energy and this is one of the best energy protection tools. Take the palm of your hand and place it on your pelvic bone and move it up in one continuous motion to your lips. You can use both hands if you want. Do this three times. Make an affirmation as you are zipping up, I am safe, I am loved, etc. On the third or fourth zip-up lock it up and throw away the key. Do anytime, anyplace.

It’s is important to zip-up the governing meridian as well because when you zip up both you create a connection between central and governing meridians that creates and energetic spine of sorts. Sort of like a hook up for the foundation of your entire energy system. You simply place your palm a bit lower than the bottom of your spine and trace it upwards as far as you can, then with intent and imagination pull up the energy until your hand can resume the trace, which is more than likely towards the top of your spine. You then continue to trace up and over your head and face until to get to your top lip, and your zipped up.

Connecting Heaven and Earth

Connecting Heaven & Earth Benefits:

  • Clears energy throughout your body allowing all energies to flow freely in and out
  • Strengthens aura and activates spleen
  • Great to clear joints, ligaments & aids arthritis
  • Helps sore joints
  • Nourishes your emotions, heart, mind & body
  • Very calming and great to do before bedtime
  • Great to do as you transitions from one thing to another throughout the day
  • Grounds you to the earth and opens you to the heavens

This Eden Energy Medicine exercise can be a great stretch too. Stand with your back straight and your feet shoulder length apart, rub the palms of your hands vigorously, shake them off and place them on the tops of your thighs. Take a deep breath. Now bring your hands into a prayer position in front of your heart and, with an inhale, raise one hand up above your head with the palm up facing up and stretch the other hand down to the ground with the palm facing down. Look up to your raised hand and hold your breath. Really get into the stretch and feel yourself connecting to the heavens and taking in that energy and then looking downward (you can exhale here if you like) feel yourself grounded to the earth soaking up its strength. Then you bring your hands back into the heart prayer position with the intention that you are bringing both heaven and earth energy into your body and connecting it.

Repeat the process on each side 3-4 times. On your last exhale, bend at the waist, allowing your upper body to hang and your hands to dangle by your feet. When you feel ready, begin to move your arms in figure-8 motions as you slowly come back to standing position.
